Irish actor, Colin Farrell has been signed to play the role of charming scheming bloodsucker vampire Jerry in a modern day remake of the 1985 cult classic ‘Fright Night’.
Farell will take on the role originally played by Chris Sarandon of an alluring vampire who moves in next door to horror film fanatic Charley Brewster.
The character of Charley Brewster will be played by ‘Star Trek’ actor Anton Yelchin. In the film he gets to know the danger that Jerry poses on everyone and tries to tell everyone about his secret identity but no one believes him. Jerry tries to seduce Charley’s mother, who will be played by Toni Collette.
The script of the film has been written by Marti Noxon and it will be directed by Craig Gillespie. Farell has appeared in number of Hollywood films including Tigerland, Daredevil, Miami Vice, Minority Report, Phone Booth, The Recruit, Alexander etc.
For his role in In Bruges, in which Farell co-starred with Brendan Gleeson he won the 2009 the Golden Globe award for Best Actor. He co-starred with Heath Ledger and Christopher Plummer in Terry Gilliam’s film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus in the same year.
