Actor tom cruise has confirmed that Brad Bird, director of The Incredibles, will be directing the fourth Mission: Impossible film. Paramount Pictures have already established that Cruise will be staring in the fourth Mission: Impossible film which will be co-produced by J J Abrams, director of Mission: Impossible III.
Paramount and Cruise had a fall out in the year 2006, which put on hold the making of Mission: Impossible IV but not it is expected to release in December 2011.
Cruise will next be seen in the action-comedy Knight and Day, in which he re-teams with former costar Cameron Diaz, scheduled for release on June 25, 2010.
The first two entries in the Mission: Impossible series, released in 1996 and 2000, were directed by Brian De Palma and John Woo respectively. Mission: Impossible IV will be the first live-action feature from Bird who has directed three animated features including The Iron Giant, a 1999 adaptation of the Ted Hughes story; superhero comedy The Incredibles in 2004; and Ratatouille in 2007.
Bird was the creator of the Family Dog episode of Steven Spielberg’s Amazing Stories. In addition, Bird co-wrote the screenplay for the live-action film *batteries not included.
